The list above shows you the best bookmakers overall, ranked according to our user ratings. But in some cases, you need more specific recommendations. For example, if you mainly gamble on one particular sport such as football, you might not need all the other betting options that are available. In that case, a more specialist site might give you a better betting experience. We constantly evaluate all of the new online UK bookmakers, as well as the more traditional UK high street brands, and evaluate them on an individual basis for each of the most popular sports. So no matter what you’re interested in, we can help you make the perfect choice.
Considering it’s the most popular sport in the UK and worldwide, it’s no surprise that just about every online bookmaker has football betting odds. You can bet on the big matches from the Premier League and Champions League, events in different competitions from all over the world as well as special markets such as betting on football transfers.
But all football betting sites are definitely not all the same. You’ll find that the best bookies to join have great odds, live betting, a wide range of fantastic bonuses and loads of great features. Others simply don’t.
So how do you avoid joining a poor site and make sure you open an account with one of the good ones? It’s simple. You just need to read this guide. We include a list of online bookies which we consider to be the best for betting on football.
No other sport is more synonymous with gambling, and people have been enjoying a day out at the racetrack for well over a century. But if you join the wrong bookie, you could end up being short-changed. Nobody should have to settle for a second rate service. So to get the best odds, most generous offers, and the most comprehensive coverage, you need to be very careful and make sure you’re betting at only the best online bookmakers.
We’ve crunched the numbers, and thoroughly tested every bookmaker on the web. So if you really want to find the top online bookies, check out our guide to the best horse racing betting sites.
Not only do we show you the best horse racing betting sites, but we have several useful racing tools available for free. WhichBookie provides an up-to-date list of today’s non-runners in horse racing, every extra place that is available on all races with each bookie, daily placepot tips, EW lucky 15s, and much more.
The 2025 Randox Grand National Festival will take place from Thursday 10th through to Saturday 12th April at Aintree Racecourse with the Grand National race being the highlight of the three days of racing, taking place at 5:15pm on the Saturday.
The Grand National is watched by over 500 million people in over 140 different countries worldwide and is considered to be one of the highlights of the year in the racing calendar.
Each year, both avid racegoers and those who have never placed a bet before, look to back a winner in the race. If you’re thinking of placing a wager, WhichBookie racing analyst Will Smith will be providing free Grand National betting tips for the race. We’ll also be showing you the best bookmakers for the Grand National so that you can take advantage of promotions such as Best Odds Guaranteed, Non-Runner No Bet, Extra Places, Price Boosts, Free Bets and more.
Tennis is one of the most popular sports for punters. There are matches nearly every day and tournaments that run all year round. Odds can fluctuate with every point scored, which makes it particularly suited to in-play betting. If you know what to look for, it can be very profitable.
What you need is an online bookie that offers fast live odds, and a choice of in-play markets. In some cases, you can also watch the games live for free. Take a look at our tennis betting guide for more info.
There are loads of different ways to bet on golf, and if you choose the right bookmaker, you can get some very big odds as well. Some bookmakers provide a wide choice of different betting markets. There’s no need to limit yourself to just trying to pick the player that will win a tournament outright. There are also 2-ball, 3-ball and mythical markets on every round, and these can provide some great opportunities to profit. We provide predictions for all major Golf tournaments with Open Championship betting tips and more available throughout the year.
There are a few online bookies that are great for golf, and plenty more that aren’t worth bothering with. To discover which ones you should join, read more here…
Everyone loves a night at the dogs. It’s another sport that goes hand in hand with gambling and remains very popular with punters today. You’ll still see the traditional turf accountants at the track, but these days you can get much better odds online at established and new bookies.
However, some smaller sportsbooks don’t publish odds on the dogs at all. Even some of the bigger sites don’t have a particularly good service. But others put a lot of emphasis on the dogs markets, and they even add live streaming and special offers as well.
Here at WhichBookie, we’ll show you the best greyhound bookies as well as providing greyhound tips from greyhound owner and expert, Michael Smyth.
Not many other sports can rival the buzz and excitement of boxing on a big fight night. Punters obviously love it too, as there’s always plenty of bets placed at online bookmakers and exchanges.
But obviously, you want to know the easiest way to maximise your winnings. That means you need to know which bookies have the best betting offers, the widest choice of markets, and the highest odds.
We provide both free boxing tips as well as recommended bookies to place each bet with.
Cricket is a sport that has seen huge changes in recent years. The popularity of T20 and the huge sums of money in the IPL has attracted new fans to the game, and it’s also thrown up a lot more opportunities for gamblers. The short forms of the game are particularly well suited to in-play punters, and the best bookmakers should give you access to all the odds and markets you need.
If you’re thinking of having a bet on cricket, you can check out out cricket betting tips for professional suggestions.
If you’re a snooker fan, you’ll know that it’s one of the hardest sports to find a top bookmaker for. Many sites simply ignore snooker, obviously believing it’s not popular enough with punters. But that isn’t actually true, in fact, there’s always a lot of money involved when the big tournaments come along, especially in the later stages. Luckily, there are a few betting sites that do offer a good snooker service.
The team at WhichBookie fully tests and rates the top online bookmakers in a number of categories. Read honest, independent analysis from industry experts to compare how each sportsbook performs in the areas you care about most.
Below are just a few of the factors we take into consideration when we’re determining the best online bookies.
Bonus – We rate the betting sites welcome bonus. How generous is their sign up bonus? How easy is it to claim? Do you need a promo code?
Features – Does the sportsbook offer popular features such as cash out, live streaming, mobile betting or best odds guaranteed?
Service – How good is the company’s customer service? Is their helpdesk fast and friendly? We put them all through their paces, so we can let you know how they perform.
Choice Of Markets & Odds – Does the sportsbook offer a varied choice of markets at competitive odds?
Payment Options – What deposit and withdrawal methods does the company offer, and how fast do they process your payments? Do they accept debit and credit card payments, PayPal, Skrill and Neteller, and what is the minimum amount you can deposit? We have dedicated pages for various payment types such as our list of PayPal betting sites.
Trustworthiness – Can the site be trusted? Do they have a solid reputation for security, do they take your privacy seriously, and are they licenced and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission or another regulatory body?
In-Play Betting – Many of us prefer to bet on live events rather than place pre-match bets. All bookies provide live in-play betting markets but some are better than others. We look at not only the number of live betting markets but also the odds that are available on them and the selection of sports that are covered.
Live Streaming – Betting is generally more enjoyable when you’re able to watch the event that you’ve bet on. However, costly subscription fees to sports channels are not an option for many which makes live streaming through bookmaker accounts all the more attractive. Some of the top bookies such as Bet365 provide live streams of hundreds of sporting events every single day and you usually only need to have a funded account or to have placed a bet in the last 24 hours.
User Experience – We all have our favourite bookies and often this is down to the usability of the website and/or app. With so many sports and betting markets available to bet on as well as promotions, price boosts and account settings, it’s vital for a bookmaker to have an easy to use website and app that new customers can get to grips with quickly.
Sign Up Process – If you’re registering an account with a new bookie, you’ll want the process to be as quick and hassle-free as possible. Some bookmakers request ID documents which can take days to verify whereas others allow new customers to sign up and start betting within minutes.
Loyalty Programme / Free Bet Clubs – It’s nice to be rewarded for being a loyal customer and some bookies do this via Loyalty Schemes. These are usually weekly promotions where customers can qualify for free bets and other rewards by placing a certain number of bets or bets of a minimum amount.
Existing Customer Offers – Some bookies offer new customers big bonuses to get them through the door but nothing after that whereas others have daily or weekly offers available to help retain customers. The key is to find the biggest and most reputable bookies that offer good odds as well as regular betting offers such as free bets, money back specials, price boosts, best odds guaranteed and more.
Whatever you like to bet on, whether it be football, horses, tennis, golf, greyhounds or in the casino, there is a bookmaker out there that’s perfect for you. Here at WhichBookie.co.uk, we will help you select the correct one for you with our detailed and impartial appraisals of all the top bookmakers. Whether you’re looking for a list of the top 10 bookmakers, the best new bookies or want to find the biggest bookmakers to register an account with, we have it all.
There a lot of advantages when setting up a new bookmaker account. Whether it is the first site you’ve joined or you’re just looking for a better service somewhere else, some of the benefits you can get are listed below. Our detailed guides will tell you which sites offer these important features.
If you are in a hurry to claim your free bets, you can click any of the quick links in the bookmakers list in right-hand side-bar to claim them instantly.
If you have the time, we would advise you to read our bookmaker review pages carefully. We have all the information you need to come to an informed decision on new UK online bookmakers and the more established bookmakers online. Use the ratings to decide which betting site is best for you, and make sure that you are aware of any Ts & Cs before signing up.
If you have any comments about your experience with any of the companies or products we’ve evaluated, we encourage you to share them with other users using the forms provided.
There’s no one bookmaker that is right for everyone. Some people prefer to bet on football over horse racing and there are certainly better bookies for each of those sports. Some people bet on a variety of sports and like to claim the various offers that are available on a daily basis such as best odds guaranteed, money back specials, football price boosts, extra places and others. Because of this, we’ve put together a list of our top UK bookmakers for 10 different categories.

If you see the term ‘Sportsbooks’ mentioned online, they’re essentially the same as a bookmaker. Bookies are more commonly known as sportsbooks in the United States but some UK and European betting sites do use the term on occasion. We have reviewed, ranked and shared our opinions of hundreds of UK sportsbooks here at WhichBookie with each one looked at carefully along with being tried and tested by our team of experts.
Determining the best sportsbooks online isn’t an easy task. Not because we don’t know what to look for in a good UK sportsbook, but more so because each person may be looking for something different in a betting site. For example, one person may be looking for a UK sportsbook that is offering the best odds, whereas another may be looking for the best sportsbook for free bets and promotions. That’s why we cover as many areas as possible in our reviews so that you can decide on the best sportsbooks online that are right for you.
As mentioned above, one sportsbook may be perfect for one person but not for another and so it’s important that you find the right one for you to bet at based on what you’re looking for in a betting site. From the 150+ UK sportsbooks we have reviewed here at WhichBookie, we’ve put together five recommendations that we believe are the best sportsbooks online for 2024.

You’ll find several bookmakers listed here on WhichBookie. In fact, we have over 140 UK bookies listed on our bookie reviews page. This may seem like an overwhelming number and we certainly don’t expect you to read through them all. That’s why we make suggestions based on both our own opinion and the experience of other users at the betting sites.
So, which bookie should you choose to bet with?
There’s no one answer to that question that is right for everyone but there are advantages to having such a large selection of UK bookies available to you and we recommend opening accounts with more than one of them. Most people have a go-to bookmaker that they place the majority of their bets with but it’s more than likely that whatever bookie that is for each person, there are better ones out there for certain things.
Some advantages of having multiple online bookmaker accounts include:
It’s unlikely that you’ll find one bookmaker that is the best in all of the above categories and so having accounts with multiple bookies is the logical solution to maximise your betting experience and value.
Betting online can be great fun but only when doing so within your means. Here at WhichBookie, we want all of our visitors to be responsible when gambling and we only feature bookmakers that are licenced by the UK Gambling Commission and therefore have to adhere to some of the tightest gambling laws in the world.
UK bookies have several responsible gambling measures in place that customers can use to continue to bet within their means. The Gambling Act 2014 requires all operators to provide responsible gambling measures with non-compliant bookies at risk of receiving huge fines and penalties.
Some responsible gambling tools that you can find at UK bookmakers listed here on WhichBookie include:
Deposit Limits / Loss Limits – Perhaps the most used responsible gambling tool by UK players. These allow customers to set a maximum amount that they can deposit within a set period of time. Similarly, loss limits allow customers to set a maximum amount that they can lose within a set period of time which is usually a day, week or a month.
Customers can change their deposit and loss limits but there is a time period, usually of between 24 hours to a week, that the new limit will take effect.
Self Exclusion – You’ll find the self-exclusion option available at all UK bookies and it allows you to exclude yourself from betting with that bookie for a period of time that you set. Self-exclusion periods can be days, weeks, months, years or indefinitely and once set, you won’t be able to access your account until the period of exclusion has passed.
Session Restrictions – If you don’t want to exclude yourself from a particular betting site, you can limit the amount of time you spend betting or playing casino games in a given day or in a particular session. This option isn’t available with all operators but is becoming increasingly popular.
Session Reminders – Similar to the above without the enforcement. Session reminders can be set which will notify you, usually via a popup message, when you have been playing or betting for a set period of time. It’s easy to get caught up in playing casino games or betting on sporting events and this tool is a welcome reminder of how much time you spend betting.
